Hey Friends – Welcome back!
Do you like going to the movies? Uh – because I DO!
I remember going to see Black Panther back in February (if you haven’t seen it – I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT). After the 5th time of watching it in theaters (don’t judge me), a question which had frequently been asked suddenly resonated with me – ‘WHO ARE YOU?’
Now let me give you a back story: throughout the movie the people of Wakanda would ask each other ‘WHO ARE YOU?’, and then they’d state with total confidence and pride who they were and what tribe they came from.
Well, this resonated with me as a young woman living in 2018. WHO AM I? Can I articulate it with confidence and pride? Am I able to identify WHO I AM instead of who the world tells who I am?
…What are you getting at JoJo?…
Ladies – WE ARE QUEENS!
- I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved’s is mine – Song of Solomon 2:26
- She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future – Proverbs 31:25
God’s word affirms us and reminds us how precious we are in His sight and how we add value within His kingdom!
Women of elegance, confidence and pride! We must take time to look inward and identify our beautiful attributes and characteristics. Our self-identity cannot be defined for us by others.
Now some of you may not think you have anything to offer – LIES! Do you think that you are valuable or worthy based on what society tells you? What about if the world deems you ‘too skinny’ or ‘too heavy’? Maybe you don’t feel valued because you don’t have enough people telling you through social media ‘likes’ and interactions..
Ladies – STAY ROOTED IN JESUS CHRIST. SHOO the devil away because he is NOT WANTED! We are all unique and most of all we don’t fit the mold! That is a gift!
If someone were to ask me today – JoJo, WHO ARE YOU?, I would respond:
I AM Jovanie Smith
A woman of class and daughter of the Most High
I walk to the own beat of my drums
I AM catalyst within my own community
But most of all I AM A QUEEN and I love who I AM.
So – here’s your chance …
WHO ARE YOU?
This is a beautiful article, Queen Jovanie! This is a simple, yet articulate reminder that we (women) are 1.what we believe and 2. What we believe God says about us. I, too, am a Queen!
I am proud to call you friend.
I have always loved you for who you are! Remember WHO you belong to. 💕
Love you deeply!
