EMBRACE CREATIVITY

By Bethany Farrell

I’m told

There is a way that things are done.
Ordered and bordered
Expected and accepted like
Others.

There is a way that I must see.
Black and white
Focused and structured like
Others.

There is a way that I must be.
Buttoned up and straight laced
Moderate, maintained, and mild mannered like
Others.

I know

God gives a way to live my life.
Openly and expansively
Grounded in God and windswept by the Spirit to reach
Others.

God gives a way to see the world.
Not with my eyes, but with my heart
Full of grace and compassion for
Others.

God gives a way for me to be.
Made in the Creator’s image, I embrace creativity
To truly be free to truly love
Others.

As Territorial Creative Arts Director for the USA Southern Territory and mother of two, Bethany Farrell is often found up to her eyeballs in rough drafts, glitter, and cheerios. She lives with her husband, Tim, and daughters, Eleanor (2) and Rosie (9 months), in Atlanta, GA.
